Course Overview
Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) play an important role in commercial transportation safety and regulatory compliance. These devices automatically record certain vehicle operation data and help drivers maintain accurate records of duty status. Improper ELD use, inaccurate duty status entries, and failure to understand federal requirements can result in compliance violations, penalties, and disruptions to transportation operations.
First Coast Warehouse Safety Training’s ELD Basics course introduces commercial motor vehicle drivers, dispatchers, and fleet supervisors to the fundamental operation of Electronic Logging Devices and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations established under 49 CFR Part 395.

This course explains how ELDs support Hours of Service compliance, the responsibilities of drivers and motor carriers, and the procedures for maintaining accurate electronic records, correcting errors, and responding to device malfunctions.
