How the Driver Safety Observation Process Works
Every assessment begins with authorization from the company, insurance professional, or risk-management partner requesting the service. Together, we identify the vehicles, drivers, routes, or operating conditions that should be observed and establish the purpose of the assessment.
FCWST then conducts an independent, real-world observation while the driver performs normal job duties. The observation is designed to evaluate everyday driving habits without interfering with the driver or changing normal operations. We look at behaviors such as following distance, speed management, lane changes, signaling, intersection awareness, distracted-driving indicators, backing and parking practices, defensive driving, and overall decision-making behind the wheel.
Following the observation, the client receives a clear written summary of what was observed, including safe driving practices, areas of concern, and recommended corrective actions. The information can be used for driver coaching, refresher training, fleet-safety improvements, accident-prevention efforts, and insurance risk-reduction programs.
The goal is not simply to identify mistakes. The goal is to help companies recognize unsafe habits before they contribute to an accident, injury, vehicle loss, insurance claim, or increased liability.
